Description

TEAC Reference OCXO – An oven-controlled crystal oscillator

Because the temperature has a huge effect on crystal oscillator accuracy, minimizing temperature variations and keeping it at an ideal level is extremely important to generate a precise clock signal. The CG-10M-X uses an innovative oven-controlled crystal oscillator, the TEAC Reference OCXO, to reduce fluctuations in the oscillation frequency caused by temperature changes.

An ultra-precise watch leader in his class

Thanks to the TEAC Reference OCXO, the CG-10M-X provides an ultra-precise 10MHz clock signal – with frequency temperature characteristics within ±3 ppb and frequency accuracy within ±0.1 ppm – to DAC and digital readers.

A single laser engraved serial number and the TEAC Reference OCXO logo on each OCXO case are proof of strict quality inspection performed during the manufacturing process.

◄ ppm=10–6 ppb=10–9

Frequency temperature features: A frequency fluctuation value caused by a temperature change

Frequency accuracy: A real frequency range.

Four output connectors clock BNC

Four gold plated BNC connectors (50Ω) are provided to provide clock signals to multiple devices. Up to four devices that support a 10MHz input can be connected simultaneously, including DAC, network players and Super Audio CD/CD players, digital transport.

Design of independent and isolated circuits

Each CG-10M-X circuit – from the power supply section to the output buffer amplifier – is completely isolated to prevent cross-references when multiple devices are connected to BNC connectors.

By incorporating a buffer amplifier in each circuit, no signal waveform degradation occurs when the generated clock signal is shared by multiple devices.

In the “X” edition, the buffer amplifier circuit and the power circuit were refined to achieve an even higher sound quality level.

Oven status indicator for watch stability monitoring

The furnace state analogue indicator located at the center of the unit, a TEAC factory brand of recent years, shows the stability of the crystal oscillator when it is in use. When the temperature of the furnace containing the crystal oscillator reaches the ideal temperature for the precise generation of the clock, the energy consumption of the furnace decreases and the point zero indicator, signaling to the user that the digital processing of the connected device is now controlled by an extremely precise 10MHz clock signal.

Note: The oscillator is generally stable about 2 minutes after ignition. However, it takes at least 10 minutes for the watch to reach an ideal condition.

Toroidal core power transformer

A high-capacity toroidal power transformer constantly provides a stable current that greatly contributes to the effectiveness of the crucial generation of the clock and its subsequent high-precision output.

Stressless feet in support of 3 points

The CG-10M-X adopts the new 3-point support foot “Stressless Foot”. This insulating foot allows a stable installation without being influenced even by the slightest distortion of the floor surface. Unlike conventional insulating feet, this foot was developed with the concept of creating a space between the foot and the lower frame, allowing the foot to vibrate freely, resulting in a more natural sound. The processed steel foot is suspended from the bottom, offering a more natural and fuller sound in addition to the precise imaging of the previous design of the pointed foot.

Semi-fluctuating upper panel

The top aluminum panel of the CG-10M-X presents a new semi-fluctuating construction. Instead of being firmly screwed to the frame, the top is mounted freely in the side panel slots for an open higher sound. With a clean top panel without screws, the CG-10M-X blends elegantly with high-end digital readers with which it is matched.

A fully metallic robust frame, combined with an A4 size footprint

Designed to fit the Reference 500 series, the CG-10M-X has aluminum panels and a robust metal frame (which also isolates it from electromagnetic noises), with a compact size A4 encumbrance that fits everywhere.
